Apple Watch Face Troubleshooting: Common Issues and Fixes
Custom watch faces through Clockology are generally reliable, but like any technology, issues can arise. This troubleshooting guide covers the most common problems and their solutions, so you can spend less time debugging and more time enjoying your luxury watch faces.
Face Not Displaying After Sync
This is the most frequently reported issue. You have synced a face from your iPhone, but it does not appear on your Apple Watch. The most common cause is that the Clockology app is not the active app on your watch. Remember, Clockology faces display as an overlay within the app — they do not replace the native watch face.
To fix this, open the Clockology app directly on your Apple Watch. Navigate to your library, find the face you synced, and tap to activate it. If the face does not appear in the library, the sync may have failed. Delete the face from the iPhone app, re-import the .clock file, and sync again.
Sync Keeps Failing
Persistent sync failures are usually caused by connectivity issues between your iPhone and Apple Watch. Try these steps in order. First, make sure both devices are close together. Second, toggle Bluetooth off and on from both devices. Third, restart both your iPhone and Apple Watch. Fourth, uninstall and reinstall Clockology on both devices. This resolves the issue in over 90 percent of cases.
If the problem persists, check that both devices are running compatible software versions. Clockology updates frequently, so make sure you have the latest version from the App Store.
Face Appears Cropped or Misaligned
If your face looks wrong — edges cut off, elements not centered, or black borders visible — you likely installed a face designed for a different watch size. Apple Watch faces come in specific sizes: 41mm, 45mm, and 49mm (Ultra). Re-download the correct size variant from your Zadigg order email and reinstall.
Battery Draining Quickly
Clockology does consume more battery than native faces. If the drain is excessive, check the following. Make sure the always-on display is not set to maximum brightness. Close other apps running in the background on your watch. Check that the face does not include complex animations that consume additional power. A typical day with Clockology should leave you with 20 to 30 percent battery by bedtime.
Complications Not Working
If a face is supposed to show complications but they appear blank or frozen, the issue is usually permissions. Open your iPhone Settings, scroll to Clockology, and ensure it has permission to access Health, Calendar, Weather, and any other data sources your complications need. Also verify that the specific face actually supports complications — not all faces include complication slots.
Face Reverts to Default
If your custom face disappears and the watch reverts to a native Apple face, the Clockology app was closed or sent to the background. This can happen when you use another app on your watch or when the watch restarts. Simply reopen Clockology on your watch to restore your custom face. For convenience, set Clockology as your primary app by opening it first each time you put on your watch.
Download File Will Not Open
If the .clock file from your Zadigg purchase will not open, try downloading it again using Safari on your iPhone rather than a third-party browser. If prompted for which app to use, select Clockology. If the file still will not open, contact our support team for a fresh download link.
